Groceries...

We definitely enjoy being able to grocery shop on weekdays during the summer.  The store isn't nearly as crazy as it is during the times we go when we are working.  We also have more time to clip coupons and find good deals.  We got all of this for less than $10!

(Ok...not really...just wanted to razz a few friends.)

Beach...

During my first week of summer I went to the beach with a couple of friends from school.  I'm not fond of posting swimsuit pictures of myself but I did feel the need to show you my sandy feet.

I used sunscreen but still ended up with a bit of a sunburn that is currently peeling.  Doesn't everyone need at least one sunburn for it to feel like summer?

There were some serious sand castle builders at the beach that day.

We did visit the strand before leaving the island.

We decided to cool off after a hot day with some ice cream.

I looked at all the gorgeous homemade candy they had but I didn't really want any.

I also checked out the ice cream but really didn't feel like having any of that either.  Strange!  Maybe I got too much sun.

Birthday Gifts...

My birthday was earlier this month and I got some great gifts.  I got plenty of cards from my family members and lots of Internet love via e-mail and Facebook.

My Aunt Pam sent me this lovely commemorative yearbook based on the year I was born.

Christine and Alex sent me a much appreciated Starbucks gift card.  I have plenty of time during the summer to relax and drink coffee!

My parents sent me a hodgepodge of things.  The Little Debbie Red Velvet snack cakes were good and especially cute with a candle and celebratory napkins.  The random old travel games were a little strange.  I remember these from when I was a child.  The funny thing is that I remember them because of how much my sister and I did not like them.  I did laugh about this with my mom before blogging about it.  I hope my mom isn't going to start cleaning out her house by sending stuff to me.

Mike got me these cute ice cream parlor truffles from Godiva and they were quite tasty!  I actually saw some of these without the ice cream cone when I was out with a friend the day before and resisted buying them.  I'm glad I didn't spoil the surprise!

Mike also got me an iTunes gift card that is somewhat mean to go with the anniversary presents we will be getting soon.

Mike remembered how much I have talked about wanting a bird feeder for our backyard so he bought me some bird seed and took me shopping.  There were lots of options but I liked the Squirrel Buster Plus bird feeder.  It has only been up a short time but we already have plenty of customers lining up to try it out!

Summer Is Here!!!

Today is my first official day of summer!  Mike is at work wrapping things up so he will have to wait a few more hours.

Dallas Wedding...

We traveled to Dallas last weekend for a wedding. The Dallas scenery was a little different this time because they just blew up the old Dallas Cowboys Stadium. We were a little surprised that such a large building can be reduced to such a small pile of rubble.

When I saw two of these decorating my mom's front entry way I thought she had lost her mind. It turns out that they are decorations left over from a Dr. Seuss themed baby shower. I'm still slightly suspicious because the shower happened a while ago.

The weather was beautiful for the wedding! It was held at the home of the bride's sister and I can't even describe how gorgeous it was.

We didn't realize it was going to be an outdoor wedding...

...but we are always well prepared with designer sunglasses for a Westlake wedding.

This really isn't a great picture of the bride and groom but we were having such a great time we really didn't think to take pictures. We know the groom from high school and college and got to know the bride while in college. They are such a sweet couple and their wedding definitely showed their personalities!

My mom just had to show me her new weekend purse before we left. It made me ponder where she spends her weekends. She threatened to purchase similar ones for my sister and I but I assured her that wasn't necessary.

As always, Sadie was a good car passenger. She pretty much slept the entire way both directions. We enjoyed the wedding but were glad to be back at home.

Lazy Saturday...

We are enjoying a lazy Saturday after a roller coaster week of TAKS testing. Two rounds down and one to go with only a few more weeks left of school.
