Moody Gardens Part 1

We visited Moody Gardens on our anniversary.  Our first stop was the Aquarium Pyramid.  Check out this set of chompers!  Yikes!

The sea turtle was very cute.

There were so many strange creatures that we didn't even know the names of.

One of the craziest was the huge eel that lives to the left of the rocks.

It is definitely difficult to take pictures of animals that never stop moving.

Seeing the divers made me think of when we went snorkeling in the Disney World Living Seas tank on our honeymoon.

Everyone loves little crabs!

All these floating little bits are actually tiny shrimp.  I wish I could have gotten a good close picture of one but they are just too small and active to get a good picture.

This shark doesn't scare me.  I swam with some of his friends during our honeymoon snorkel adventure.

How do you measure up compared to a penguin?  Those Emperor Penguins are pretty big.

We took so many pictures of the penguins we could probably wallpaper our entire home!

Another Dallas Wedding...

We went to Dallas recently for the wedding of one of my favorite Baylor friends.  The reception was was quite lovely.

See what I mean?  We chose to sit inside but the weather wasn't too bad for those who sat outside.

The bride has a fun personality!  Each bridesmaid wore a different color and each reception table alternated the same colors.

The food was great and there was plenty of time for dancing.

I don't really know the groom but I was so excited to be there to see Kristen get married.

There was a family we didn't know at our table at the reception.  They were very nice and we really got to know each other.  It turns out that the daughter works at MD Anderson as a dietitian and knows a friend of mine from Sunday School.  Danielle's eyes teared up a little as she talked about how much she loves Missy and misses working with her.  Small World!!!

Groceries...

We definitely enjoy being able to grocery shop on weekdays during the summer.  The store isn't nearly as crazy as it is during the times we go when we are working.  We also have more time to clip coupons and find good deals.  We got all of this for less than $10!

(Ok...not really...just wanted to razz a few friends.)

Beach...

During my first week of summer I went to the beach with a couple of friends from school.  I'm not fond of posting swimsuit pictures of myself but I did feel the need to show you my sandy feet.

I used sunscreen but still ended up with a bit of a sunburn that is currently peeling.  Doesn't everyone need at least one sunburn for it to feel like summer?

There were some serious sand castle builders at the beach that day.

We did visit the strand before leaving the island.

We decided to cool off after a hot day with some ice cream.

I looked at all the gorgeous homemade candy they had but I didn't really want any.

I also checked out the ice cream but really didn't feel like having any of that either.  Strange!  Maybe I got too much sun.

Birthday Gifts...

My birthday was earlier this month and I got some great gifts.  I got plenty of cards from my family members and lots of Internet love via e-mail and Facebook.

My Aunt Pam sent me this lovely commemorative yearbook based on the year I was born.

Christine and Alex sent me a much appreciated Starbucks gift card.  I have plenty of time during the summer to relax and drink coffee!

My parents sent me a hodgepodge of things.  The Little Debbie Red Velvet snack cakes were good and especially cute with a candle and celebratory napkins.  The random old travel games were a little strange.  I remember these from when I was a child.  The funny thing is that I remember them because of how much my sister and I did not like them.  I did laugh about this with my mom before blogging about it.  I hope my mom isn't going to start cleaning out her house by sending stuff to me.

Mike got me these cute ice cream parlor truffles from Godiva and they were quite tasty!  I actually saw some of these without the ice cream cone when I was out with a friend the day before and resisted buying them.  I'm glad I didn't spoil the surprise!

Mike also got me an iTunes gift card that is somewhat mean to go with the anniversary presents we will be getting soon.

Mike remembered how much I have talked about wanting a bird feeder for our backyard so he bought me some bird seed and took me shopping.  There were lots of options but I liked the Squirrel Buster Plus bird feeder.  It has only been up a short time but we already have plenty of customers lining up to try it out!

Summer Is Here!!!

Today is my first official day of summer!  Mike is at work wrapping things up so he will have to wait a few more hours.
